The beginning of spring signals a season of more vehicle driving and it’s time to think about making sure your car is ready.  Many studies have shown that people drive more but a study done by the University of North Dakota confirms that fuel prices rise because of that fact.  Here’s some things you can do to help according to ASE’s website http://www.ase.com/News-Events/Publications/Car-Care-Articles/Springtime-Auto-Care.aspx:

Make sure your car is in good tune – spark plugs, filters, etc. This will get you the most bang for your buck in terms of fuel mileage.

Have your cooling system looked at and flushed if necessary. Summer is important as winter in regards to keeping your cars cooling system in top condition.

Check belts and hoses, and if due by time or mileage have your oil and filter changed.

Check your tires including your spare and if you’ve been driving on studded or winter tires it’s time to change them out. Check tire pressures regularly, just a few pounds can affect your fuel mileage. Here’s a good experiment, deflate your bicycle tires just 5 pounds and see how much harder it is to pedal.

Don’t neglect your wiper blades just yet, some sever weather may still be ahead in the coming months.
